Heddles on a loom

1977, Alafors

Texsolv AB was founded in 1977 by Sune Ivarsson in Alafors, north of Gothenburg. The first products were heddles, cord and tie-up sets for hand weaving looms, and ladder string for Venetian blinds, all made on crocheting machines the company built and adapted itself. The idea behind the cord, a continuous chain of loops locked with a peg, turned out to solve the oldest problem on a hand loom: the knots.

A global standard

Within a few years loom manufacturers in Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and North America were fitting System Texsolv as standard equipment, and today many of the world's leading loom makers fit Texsolv as standard. Weavers know the system from Glimåkra, Toika, Louet, Schacht, Leclerc, AVL, Ashford and dozens of other makers.

Tösse today

The company is run by Thomas Ivarsson, Sune's son, from Vitlanda in Tösse, south of Åmål on the west shore of Lake Vänern. Every product is still made in-house on our own custom-built machines, in a modern facility, kept in stock and shipped worldwide. Custom lengths and sets can be made on short notice depending on quantity. A large portion of production goes to loom builders, weaving schools and retailers; the rest goes directly to weavers through our webshop.

The loop principle also became RunLock, the knot-free rope for boats, hunting and outdoor use, made in the same factory.

What we care about

Making the best heddles, cord and tie-up sets there are, and making them fast and reliably, every time. Low-stretch polyester, knot-free construction, sizes for every loom, and stock on the shelf.
